From the Baltic Sea to the Deep Sea - Intelligent Underwater Systems are the Key to Success
The newly formed Subsea Monitoring Network e.V. presented Intelligent Marine Technology to Touch to visitors of the Hanse Sail 2014 at the Hohe Düne Marina in Warnemünde. Ten member companies, including ENITECH GmbH, presented remotely controlled measuring vehicles, underwater robots and various measuring probes that can be used in the future for sustainable exploration by maritime growth markets. Parallel to this, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s state secretary, Sebastian Schröder from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, opened an expert workshop called the Development of Reliable Underwater Technologies – From the Baltic Sea to the Deep Sea, which took place in cooperation with the German Association for Marine Technology (GMT) and was supported by Rostock Business. At the opening Schröder commented, "With its location and scientific institutions, the city of Rostock offers the best conditions to work on the challenges facing underwater technology. Companies will be able to find partners here in the fields of research and development. In the broadest sense, marine research will be perceived as the domain of the north German states. This event demonstrates what underwater technology is capable of doing."
